Alfabol Cap
(Alfacalcidol 0.25 mcg + Elemental Calcium 200 mg. Profile
Vitamin D3 substances are a group of closely related steroid compounds, which possess antirachitic activity to varying degrees.
Dosage
Adults: 1 mcg/day, Elderly: 0.5mcg/day, Children under 20 kg: 0.05 mcg/kg/day. Premature infants & neonates: 0.05-0.1 mcg/kg/day.
Indications
Postmenopausal Osteoporosis, Steroid induced Osteoporosis, Senile Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis, Vitamin D dependent rickets.
USP
Alfabol decreases rate of vertebral & peripheral fractures Preserves spinal height & increases bone density.
Contra Indications
Hypercalcaemia, Hyper-magnesaemia.
Special Precautions
Renal impairment, monitor serum levels especially in patients with renal failure, hyper calciuria.
